CS2 Merit Medals - All about medals and badges in CS2

Merit medals have been available in Counter Strike since 2015. Merit medals are in-game exhibition items that players can obtain from a profile level of 40. In addition to the medals of merit, there are also rare badges in the game, which are automatically added to your inventory. The badges are collected in the inventory and serve as rewards for loyal Counter Strike players.

How do I get a medal of merit in CS2?

To receive a medal of merit, all you have to do is reach level 40 (Global General Rank) and collect the medal in the game on your player profile. When you reach level 40, the message "Receive Merit Medal" will automatically appear. Upon confirmation, your profile level will be downgraded to 1 (Recruit Rank). The competition or Premier Rank have no influence on this.

There is a new Medal of Merit with a unique design every year starting January 1 at midnight (Pacific Time Zone).

All medals of merit received (with invoice)

It is virtually impossible to get all 6 medals of merit. We have calculated for you how long you have to play to get all 6 medals of merit.

Let's assume you save the level up from the old year for the merit medal and start directly on January 1st with a merit medal. Then you have exactly 52 weeks to level up 200 times, which is virtually impossible.

About the invoice: Before the Multiplier every week you will earn 582,400 XP (52 weeks x 112,000XP) over the course of the year. For these 582,400 XP you have to play at least 10 hours every week. However, to earn all 6 merit medals, you need exactly 1,000,000 XP (200 levels x 5000 XP). However, as the multiplier is reduced from 582,400 XP and you are still missing exactly 419,600 XP, you will need around 4,000 hours for these, which is an additional 85 hours per week.

Through a Operation you can save yourself a few hours of game time, but it won't help you much. You get about 20,000 XP from a whole operation and in some years there was only one operation per year. But let's say there are 3 operations in a year, then you would only save 60,000 XP, which is about 500 hours of game time.

In summary, it is very difficult to get all 6 merit medals. In the worst case scenario, you would have to play 4,500 hours in a year. It is therefore very impressive to receive the 4 medals of merit.

How do I get the 5-year veteran coin?

The 5-year veteran coin is awarded automatically if you have been a member of the Counter Strike community for at least 5 years. It does not matter whether it is Counter Strike Source, Counter Strike 1.6 or Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

If you are not sure whether you have been a member of the Counter Strike community for 5 years, you can easily check this.

  • Step 1Open Steam
  • Step 2Go to your name at the top left and click on "Account details"
  • Step 3Open "Show licenses and product key activations"

Now you can see all the games you have ever bought on Steam with the date of purchase. Now search for Counter Strike and see if you have been a member for 5 years.

If the date you purchased Counter Strike was more than 5 years ago and you have not yet received the medal, you can contact Steam Support to receive the medal.
