CS2 skins vary in rarity. The rarity level of an item is an indicator of the likelihood of that item coming out of a crate. The most common rarity level is "consumer class", while the rarest is "contraband".

All rarity levels at a glance

1st consumer class (consumer grade)

Items of the "consumer class" cannot be drawn from classic weapon crates, but can only be obtained in collections. This means that these items can be obtained through the weekly care package can be obtained. This in turn means that there are a lot of these skins and they are therefore relatively worthless.

Skins in the "consumer class" are not very colorful and are kept in shades of grey, blue, green and brown. They also only have very simple patterns that are not particularly eye-catching.

2. industrial grade

Items with "industrial quality" are also not represented in weapon boxes, but belong to collections. These items are also still very common, making them of little value. The big difference to "consumer grade" skins is that "industrial grade" skins are somewhat more colorful and have more elaborate patterns.

3. military standard (Mil-Spec)

"Military standard" is the most likely rarity level that can be pulled from a weapon crate. These skins often have more elaborate patterns and interesting designs, but these skins are also largely worthless as they are very common in CS2.

There is a 70.92 % chance to get a skin with the rarity level "Military Standard" from a weapon box.

Skins that are "Limited" can also be pulled from a weapon box. They are somewhat rarer than skins in the "Military Standard" category, which is why they are a little more colorful and have more striking patterns and designs.

The chance of getting a skin with the rarity level "Limited" from a weapon box is 15.98 %.

The "contraband" rarity level is particularly interesting. It is assigned to all items that Valve have caused legal problems and have therefore been removed from circulation. This includes, for example, the M4A4 Howl, the design of the community skin was stolen from another artist, as a result of which the entire skin had to be banned.

Skins of the rarity level "Contraband" can no longer be obtained and only those skins that were obtained before the legal problems became known are available.
