Wireless mice are a excellent choice for CS2 and other shooters. In fact, even CS2 Pro's five most used mice are all wireless. Apart from the slightly higher price, they have no disadvantage over wired mice. At the same time, they have many advantages over wired mice.
The right mouse for CS2
The right mouse is very important for gamers, especially in demanding shooters such as CS2. Here, the speed and reliability of the mouse is a particular priority. Many questions arise when choosing the right mouse, one of which is: Is a wireless mouse even good enough?
There have been many myths surrounding wireless mice in recent years, which we will address in this article. We want to show you that wireless mice are one of the best options for a new CS2 mouse.
Input lag (latency)
Simply put, latency is the delay between the click of a button and the signal arriving at the computer. A common myth is that a wireless mouse has a much higher latency than a wired mouse because the signal can be transmitted faster over a cable.
In reality, the difference in latency between good wireless and wired mice is less than 0.5 ms. That's a difference of just half a millisecond, the effect of which is so small that not even a pro player could notice the difference.
For comparison: Formula 1 drivers have a reaction time of around 150 ms.
So whether the mouse has a response time of 2.1 ms (wired) or 1.9 ms (wireless) is completely irrelevant.

It is important that the mouse is not connected to the PC via Bluetooth. The latency is significantly increased when using Bluetooth. The ASUS ROG Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition has a latency of 10.5 ms when connected via Bluetooth, instead of 2.1 ms when using the wireless receiver.
Battery life
Another myth is that the batteries of wireless mice do not last long enough and that you have to take a break during a long gaming session to charge the mouse.
This fear is not justified, the average battery life of wireless gaming mice is around 70 - 90 hours. Even the most trained pro can't play for that long at a stretch. Other mice such as the SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless even achieve a battery life of over 400 hours.
For this reason, charging a wireless mouse is not a problem. Simply leave it to charge overnight every few days, just like a smartphone. There are now also gadgets such as a mouse pad with a wireless charging function, so you no longer need to connect the mouse to the cable to charge it.
Wireless mice are heavier
The next myth we'll deal with is that wireless mice are heavier than wired mice because of their battery.
A look at the data is enough to debunk this myth:
Mouse | Type | Weight |
---|---|---|
Logitech G Pro X Superlight | Wireless | 62 gram |
Zowie EC2-CW | Wireless | 77 gram |
VAXEE OUTSET AX | Wired | 76 gram |
Zowie EC2 | Wired | 87 gram |
As can be seen from the table, it is not true that wireless mice are heavier. On the contrary, some of them are even lighter than wired mice.
Connection problems (faults)
About every third CS2 Pro uses the Logitech G Pro X Superlight. They play professionally on stage at the same time with the same mouse and there are no connection problems. This fact is reason enough to confirm that wireless mice do not have any major connection problems or interference in the connection.
Of course, this does not mean that there are no problems. However, faults are very rare with wireless mice, just as they are with cable mice. The likelihood of faults exists with both types of mouse and should not put you off wireless mice.
Wireless is more expensive
Gaming mice are always a little more expensive, especially really good mice. With cable mice, the selection is larger and you can also find a cheap mouse more quickly, but caution is advised here. Mice are often marketed as gaming mice, but are actually not really suitable for this.
A good mouse is always a good investment for a gamer and the difference in price between good wired and wireless mice is not that great. So it's definitely worth considering paying a little more to get a wireless mouse.
Summary
Latency, battery life and weight are no arguments against a wireless mouse. The only point that can speak against a wireless mouse is the slightly higher price. However, this price can be justified by the advantage that the mouse cable does not get in the way or get caught anywhere.
More than half of all CS2 Pros now play with wireless mice. This confirms once again that wireless mice are no worse than wired mice. On the contrary, it shows that wireless mice are becoming more and more popular and more pros are switching to wireless mice.
Wireless vs. wired mouse - who wins:
A wireless mouse is the best choice for a new gaming mouse for CS2. This is confirmed by the choice of Pro Player mice. The only winner in terms of price is the wired mouse with a slightly lower price.
