With the command cl_showfps 1 you can easily display the FPS in CS2. Simply enter the command in the console and the FPS will be displayed at the top left of the screen.
Display FPS by console command
Displaying the FPS using the console command is the most common way to see your FPS in CS2. This method makes it very quick and easy to switch the FPS display on and off.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Navigate to the CS2 settings in the game (gear wheel top left)
- Under the "Game" menu item, set the "Enable developer console (~)" option to "YES"
- Under the menu item "Keyboard/Mouse" under the item "Open console", specify any key (e.g. "~", "^" or ",")
- Open the console by clicking on the button defined in step 4
- The command cl_showfps 1 into the console and press enter

To turn the FPS display off again, simply enter the same command with a 0 instead of a 1 in the console. So: cl_showfps 0
In addition to cl_showfps 1 and cl_showfps 0, there are also the commands: cl_showfps 2, cl_showfps 3, cl_showfps 4, cl_showfps 5. These commands provide additional information on the FPS. For example, cl_showfps 2 shows the maximum and minimum FPS in addition to the FPS. However, the other commands do not display any relevant information for most CS2 players.
Net Graph in CS2
The CS:GO Net Graphswhich was mainly used to display the FPS, no longer exists in this form in CS2. The command cq_netgraph 1 shows the current connection to the server in CS2. The command is therefore used in CS2 to see whether your own Internet connection is causing lags.
Display FPS through Steam
Another way to see the FPS in CS2 is to display them directly via Steam. In this case, the developer console in CS2 no longer needs to be used and everything runs via the Steam settings.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Open the Steam settings
- In the game: Press Shift + Tab, then click on the cogwheel
- In the Steam client: Click on Steam at the top left, then click on Settings
- Select the "In game" tab on the left-hand side
- Select the desired display location under "In-game FPS display"
- Optional: Activate the "High-contrast FPS display in the game" option (so that the FPS display in the game is easier to read)

Display FPS through the start options
The option to display FPS via the start options is essentially similar to the method of displaying the FPS via the console. The only difference is that the console does not need to be opened and the command is executed every time CS2 is started. This ensures that the FPS is always displayed when CS2 is started.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Navigate to Counter-Strike 2 in the Steam library#
- Click on the gear wheel and then on Properties
- Under "General", in the "Start options" section, select the command +cl_showfps 1 enter

Further options for displaying the FPS
In addition to the methods mentioned, there are other ways of displaying the FPS. However, these methods depend on the PC components and do not work for everyone.
With an Nvidia graphics card, you can use "GeForce Experience" to display the FPS in games.
With an AMD Radeon you can use the "Radeon Overlay" to display your FPS in games.
